Could you try fetching the entry from the uploads feed instead, i.e.
https://gdata.youtube.com/feeds/api/users/default/uploads/VIDEO_ID
I have an open request with our tech writer to get our docs updated
to make it clear that only video entries retrieved from the uploads
feed are updateable. This changed a while back.
