The support authentication protocols are documented at
http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/2.0/developers_guide_protocol_authentication.html
If you're using a client library for a specific language, chances are
there are helper methods in that library to handle authentication for
you. Based on your initial question I don't know what language you're
using, though.
